Collecting & Connecting: Artist Talk with Anthony Peyton Young

Join us for an exciting virtual artist talk with Anthony Peyton Young! Simmons University and the Trustman Art Gallery are proud to have acquired Anthony’s powerful work, A Prayer for Terry “Tootsie” Clark, through “Collecting & Connecting,” a student-led program designed to diversify the Simmons University Art Collection. The drawing serves, in Anthony’s words, as “a representation of the many other women of color who are murdered or go missing and get no sense of justice.” Anthony examines Black ancestry, identity, and memorialization in his work using the mediums of drawing, painting, and collage. The Boston- and Charleston-based artist will talk about our newly acquired work, as well as his background, career path, and his work as an artist, followed by an open Q&A. We hope to see you there!
