The Colleges of the Fenway Center for Sustainability and the Environment is a collaboration of faculty, staff, and students from the five member colleges working together to enhance understanding of the complex issues of sustainability as they relate to natural resources and the environment. The mission of the Center for Sustainability and the Environment is to engage and support faculty and students in all aspects of sustainability and environmental issues by providing resources and activities focused on education, scholarship, and service to the community. The directorship of the center is drawn from the Colleges of the Fenway (COF) faculty for two year appointments. Ongoing annual Center activities include:
- Environmental Forum, a course open to all COF students that provides both academic and service-learning opportunities focused on issues related to sustainability, offered in the Spring
- Annual Muddy River Symposium showcasing student research on the Muddy River. This year’s 18th Annual Muddy River Symposium Student Research will be showcased on April 10, 2024 at Simmons University.
- Teach-Ins focusing on issues relating to sustainability and the environment from various lenses.

- Development and oversight of the COF Minor in Sustainability, approved by all five institutions
