Technology as Tools for Assessment

Janet Hart, Assistant Professor of Biology/Premed Mentor, MCPHS, will discuss
the how blogs can be used as an online journal club in an upper level biology course
and how they can be integrated with course examinations.

Kate MacDonald, Associate Professor Library & Learning Services/Director of
Instructional Design Services, MCPHS, will talk about classroom assessment
techniques (quick methods for getting student feedback on what they are learning,
what they are missing, and their opinions about the course’s  plusses and minuses). 
This includes discussion boards, survey tools, or polling slides such as TurningPoint.

Joe DeMasi, Assistant Professor of Biology/Premed Mentor, MCPHS, will be explaining
how wikis have been used for collaborative student research projects in an upper level
biology course.
