A Glimpse of What to Look Forward to for COF Performing Arts:

 The COF Office of Performing Arts is planning an exciting year as it launches its seventh season. This fall, over 200 students are participating in the COF Dance Project, dancing and choreographing hip-hop, ballet, contemporary and tap. As a special collaborative event, this fall the COF Chorus and the Emmanuel Chorus will present Vivaldi's moving Gloria, for chorus and organ, in the Emmanuel Chapel. The COF Orchestra, now in its 13th season, will feature both a student concerto winner and a student conductor. Read More

Emergency Management Higher Education Grant:

This semester, with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), the COF will be hosting Incident Command training for all campus Executives and Senior Leadership.  The training will be on Wednesday, November 16th from 9am-11:30am in the Alumni Room on the Wheelock College main campus.  Executives and Senior Leadership can reserve a space for this training or a space for the Tuesday, January 10th training held at Mass Art by visiting http://cofics402.eventbrite.com

Members of each campus' emergency teams will continue to complete trainings in incident command both on-line and in classroom settings as courses are offered throughout the state, look for those courses to be offered again within the COF in the Spring of 2012.

Teaching and Learning Collaborative:

As we enter the second full year of operation of the TLC, we look forward to  the 10th Annual Teaching and Learning Conference on October 27-28th, 2011 at MCPHS; Richard A. Griffin Academic Center.

Come join us at an event, in a community, with an idea!  The TLC is dedicated to helping you "be the teacher you want to be.” 

2011-2012 Intramurals set to Kick Off

The Colleges of the Fenway 2011-2012 intramural season is beginning to kick off. The first sport out is flag football, traditionally the most popular sport amongst participants, with close to 50 teams each season competing. For registration and more on upcoming intramurals, click here

 Study Abroad Fair 

On Tuesday September 27 at Emmanuel College in the Jean Yawkey Center, the COF hosted a "Study Abroad" fair. Information about internships, volunteer programs, COF travel courses and hundreds of study abroad options were available to students interested in taking their education abroad. Read More on opportunities to lead students abroad.

" Team Winning” Takes Home Summer Softball Crown

Team Winning had an appropriate name as it swept its competition in the Colleges of the Fenway 2011 Summer Softball League, taking home the title of league champions.  Team Winning completed a perfect 6-0 regular season and then won all three of its playoff games, beating Threat Level Midnight in the finals 10-9 to capture the crown.  Team Winning was captained by Wentworth Senior Dominick Lorusso. Other team members included fellow Wentworth students Caylee Johanson, Charles Gregory, Dan Mulvey, David Bernstein, Derek Portugal, Jen Giudice, and Lizz Harvey.While Team Winning dominated the regular season, winning five of its six games by at least 7 runs, it won all three of its playoff games by a single run.

 


It Was a Busy COF Summer for the Teaching and Learning Collaborative

 The summer of 2011 was a very active and successful one, as the COF's Teaching and Learning Collaborative (TLC) completed its first full year of operation with two major initiatives offered to COF faculty and academic staff. Read More

COF Admissions Staff Social!

The COF Admissions staff gathered for a meet and greet social on September 8th. Staff members introduced themselves, spoke about their roles and admissions travel.

 

A thumball exercise provided a few laughs and a great start to the new academic year!

Block Party

 

Despite dark clouds and the threat of rain, over 1,300 students received special COF 15th Anniversary T shirts, participated in the Taste of the Fenway, ate lots of fried dough and sausage and picked up goodies from local vendors. See Pictures
