This spring semester the Office of Performing Arts and the COF Theater Project are holding the second annual COF New Play Festival. We are looking for short plays in the 10 minute format written by students and faculty from all of the colleges.
Last year’s inaugural season was highly successful, with performances of Lemmings, by Travis Harrington (MassArt), Rite of Reception by Benjamin Conrick (Simmons),
He Looks Like A Burrito by Rebecca Saunders (MassArt), and Kids Fighting for Space by T. Kane Stanton (MassArt). The students who acted thoroughly enjoyed performing these plays, as well as discussing them, in production, with the writers.
“We were thrilled by the creativity, theatricality and variety of the entries,” commented COF Theater Project director Tom Davison. “This is a rare opportunity for these COF playwrights, as well as for the student actors.”
The deadline to submit manuscripts for the spring is January 20, 2012. A panel of readers will review submissions.
