The
Colleges of the Fenway Orchestra's Policies
Although
this is a voluntary activity, once you become a member of the orchestra
you assume certain responsibilities. Generally, these are as
follows:
| 1. |
Attendance
to all rehearsals is mandatory.
It is expected that all members will keep
their schedule open for every rehearsal.
Rehearsals
start promptly at 6:30 PM (depending
on the semester schedule).
Arrive with enough time to be completely
set up and warmed up by 6:30 PM. An exam
on the following day is not automatically
a reasonable excuse for missing rehearsal.
Students should organize their time and
plan ahead. |
| 2. |
A
maximum of two rehearsals can be missed during the semester.
A third missed rehearsal may result in suspension from the group.
The last three rehearsals, the dress rehearsal, and the concert must
be attended. No
excuses (with the exception of medical or family emergency) will be
accepted for these dates. The conductor must be told of
prior engagements on these dates at the first rehearsal. |
| 3. |
24-hour
notification via e-mail to the personnel
manager and the conductor of inability
to make a rehearsal is required.
Telling the the personnel manager or the
conductor at the end of rehearsal that you
will not be attending next week's rehearsal
does not take the place of the e-mail. |
| 4. |
If
you do not come to a rehearsal, your music must be there! This is
absolutely required. No excuses! |
| 5. |
Please bring
the following items to every rehearsal, unless otherwise advised:
- Your instrument
- Your music
- Pencil
- Music stand
|
| 6. |
Practicing
difficult passages at home and reviewing notes made by the conductor
during rehearsal is expected. |
| 7. |
Always
check your e-mail on rehearsal days for any last minute updates.
All communication regarding snow cancellations, room changes, etc.
will be through e-mail. |
Adherence
to these policies is expected and appreciated by everyone. Remember, the
orchestra is a group effort and everyone is counting on each other.
